I was a swimmer and a runner growing up and only came across Triathlon in 2005. I became immediately hooked on the multi discipline event and it quickly became apparent that I could be quite good at the sport!
2007 was an incredible year for me, winning the European and World Junior titles as well as being crowned Senior National Champion. I was also shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality Of The Year and Sunday Times Young Sports Women of the Year.
I made an immediate impact on the Senior ranks in 2008 coming 3rd, 2nd and 4th in my debut World Cups. This ranked me World Number 1 at just 18 years of age, the youngest ever athlete to podium in successive debut World Cup races whilst still technically a junior. My 4th place in the Madrid World Cup gained me selection for Beijing (whilst studying for my A levels) and in preparation for the Games I also won the British National Championships. Unfortunately, following illness in the days preceding the race in Beijing I was unable to finish the race.
At the 2009 Triathlon World Championships in Australia I was crowned the Under 23 World Champion.
I seem to be addicted to making smoothies at the moment. My favourite one is made of: Berries, Lucozade pro-muscle chocolate powder, soy milk, honey, a shot of coffee and ice. Beautiful!
